ZZ’s Clam Bar is a tiny and trendy, reservation-only seafood and cocktail bar in NYC. This intimate hot spot founded by Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick and Rich Torrisi—of Carbone and Dirty French—can be found at the edge of Greenwich Village. Even the décor is undeniably hip; the shuttered windows make it resemble a speakeasy.
ZZ’s Clam Bar specializes in seafood crudo and raw bites, just like the name says. Start with sturgeon or trout roe on toast to tease the appetite before moving on to seared live scallop, tuna carpaccio or parrot fish ceviche. Don’t forget to order from their raw bar, which features all kinds of oysters, clams and caviar. Dishes range between $17 and $105. Afterward, be sure to order a specialty cocktail like coconut rum with honey and smoked cinnamon, or the green tea gin with matcha and basil. Most cocktails average around $20 dollars each.
