Wildflower Hall, Shimla in the Himalayas
You’re looking at spots for your next vacation. Are you headed to a beach or to a city or to the mountains? The mountains—traveling is one of my passions. I’ve been to 6/7 continents (Antarctica, I’m coming for you!) but one of my favorite trips ever was trekking through the Himalayas. Such an unforgettable experience! – Jason Milov
Travel to the Indian Himalayas for a trip that’s truly out of the ordinary. Wildflower Hall, Shimla in the Himalayas is a resort unlike any other, since it allows guests to explore the Himalayan mountain range from the most luxurious and comfortable vantage point possible. The easiest way to arrive is by flying into Chandigarh Airport and by driving four hours down picturesque countryside roads. After getting here, be sure to set aside some time for hiking, rafting or cycling so that you can enjoy the incredible landscapes around Wildflower Hall. It was once the home of Lord Kitchener—a former British colonial administrator who was stationed in India—and has since been transformed into the opulent hotel that it is today. But it remains true to its origins, and Wildflower Hall still boasts gorgeous colonial furnishings. As it’s surrounded by wilderness, each and every room is blessed with breathtaking views—remember, you are 8,250 feet above sea level! Some accommodations look out to the garden and others offer astounding visions of the nearby mountains. Even the bathrooms are incredibly opulent; they’ve all been outfitted with the finest Spanish marble. A stay at Wildflower Hall will cost between 15,000-60,000 INR per person a night, with the super-luxe Lord Kitchener Suite going for as much as 100,000 INR. And also make sure to check out their spa facilities for a Balinese treatment or the Thai massage to feel rejuvenated and refreshed, or go for a dip in the indoor heated pool, which also boasts great mountain views (of course!). After a spa treatment or a swim, replenish with something to eat at The Restaurant. Their international menu is designed to cater to guests from around the world, and the chefs will accommodate most dietary restrictions. Ready to go yet? Make a reservation at Wildflower Hall.
