Rooms Hotel Kazbegi
What is your favorite place in the world you’ve traveled to and why? This is a tough one. I’ve had the chance to visit some absolutely incredible off the beaten path places in the world—Republic of Georgia is a standout. – Sean Mangan

Located at the foot of Mount Kazbek, a snow-covered lump of rock in the Caucasus Mountains, Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is an uber-contemporary hotel that offers alpine vistas in Stepantsminda, Georgia. The decor is a fusion of glass, wood and steel, with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook hilly peaks. The 155 rooms, which range from $150 to $210 per night, have been decorated by local designers. Close to Stepantsminda, a mountain town famous for its ancient cliff-perched churches and red-roofed houses, the resort offers rest and relaxation in Georgia’s Mtskheta-Mtianeti region. Guests can make the 105-mile-trip from Tbilisi Airport by shuttle bus or car.
Rooms Hotel Kazbegi, named after a 19th-century Georgian poet, serves local cuisine in its large restaurant, which is adorned with a black brick-exposed wall and low-hanging ceiling lights. After a bite to eat, guests can retreat in the lounge bar, which offers cocktails and cigars.
There’s plenty to see in Stepantsminda. Guests can go heli-skiing in the winter—off-trail skiing in a location accessed by a helicopter instead of a ski lift—on the slopes of the Caucasus mountain range. The community is a popular spot for mountain bikers and hikers, too. Travelers can reserve a room online or view photos of the resort on Instagram before their vacation.
