An abundance of lobster in La Guadeloupe
Best place for a quick weekend away? French West Indies – St. Barth, Martinique or Guadeloupe. – Dan Miller
No vacation to La Guadeloupe would be complete without a trip to the restaurant Le Colombo in the town of St. François. La Guadeloupe is an island in the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean, and it’s still an overseas region of France, meaning that the culture of the place is a delicious combination of Caribbean and French. St. François’s unique location—on a point of land jutting eastward into the sea—provides incredible views with water on all sides. It’s the perfect place then, for a seafood restaurant, and Le Colombo delivers. The large, open-air restaurant attracts locals and tourists alike, and it’s a bustling favorite of families and large groups looking for a casual atmosphere with excellent food.
Not to be missed on Colombo’s menu is their lobster fricassee (48 euros), a Caribbean favorite. They also serve grilled lobster (48 euros) and a mixed fish grill (22 euros) that are as fresh as can be. The owners are Indian and combine the best of their heritage and local flavors to create truly unique dishes.
