Break out your record player for Into Orbit
Please tell us more about your business or project: So basically I started my own label, Into Orbit, recently. People were telling me I should do it for a while but the timing wasn’t right. I wanted to take the time to get it right, I’ve been working on it for the last 12 months now and we’re just releasing the first record, Tom Flynn presents “Missions Vol 1.”
The name just came from my love of space. I love learning and especially about space, so it just felt right to run with it. On the b side of every record will be a picture of a a galaxy or some part of space along with a short description about that picture.
The main reason behind me doing it was so I can release what I want when I want. Sometimes it’s about solid grooves, just good tracks that don’t do anything for 5 minutes. Tracks you can put on in a coffee shop or a club. I like records like that. Thomas Bangalter is the master at that, you can listen to his records in a coffee house or a club.
The sound of the label is anything goes. I don’t like pigeon holing. All that matters is that I love it. I couldn’t care less if it’s a locked groove track for 5 minutes or some high tempo raw techno jam, there are no rules in music.
Right now it’s vinyl only, limited edition press of each release, but so many people are mailing the label asking for digital release too, so we are looking into that. Maybe we’ll follow suit and do vinyl and digital, give people the option.
The music is available on the Into Orbit bandcamp page, as well as other record stores. We’re currently waiting on the next pressings to arrive as the first run sold out very quickly. – Tom Flynn
