You’re treating a special someone to a romantic weekend away. What locale do you go to and what activities are you planning? Fire Island or East Hampton, depending on the boy. Each one entails its own very interesting and very different set of activities but both destinations would entail a pool, beach, wine, and unbelievable food. [Going to East Hampton this summer? Drink at the Blue Parrot and eat at Nick and Toni’s]
Name one tourist spot you break out your selfie stick for: I don’t take selfies!
You’re looking at spots for your next vacation. Are you headed to a beach or to a city or to the mountains? Beach, every time. Vacations should involve getting a tan but preferably somewhere with other people around to get to know. Why not choose Lake Tahoe and have all three? [We agree! Read our Travel Guide: Lake Tahoe to plan your summer trip]
What goes into the perfect sandwich? I’m not that picky when it comes to what goes in my sandwich. It has to have some sort of meat and some sort of cheese. However, it should be toasted.
Describe the best meal you’ve ever had and with whom: Certainly not some of the fanciest meals but I think my favorite meals are in Fire Island. Great food surrounded by good friends on a beach with lots of drinks, what else could you ask for? [Here’s a local favorite place to eat and drink in Fire Island and a nearby beach]
What’s your comfort food? Chinese food
Fuck, Marry, Kill: cheese, sushi, BBQ Fuck: Cheese, Marry: BBQ, Kill: Sushi
Fashion-wise, what season do you look forward to most? Summer. I wear all black most days in the winter so it’s not all that fun. Summer is spent running around in new speedos of all sorts of colors. Last summer’s best were a few water polo speedos from my alma mater! [Hitting the beach? For the guy who likes swim briefs and for the guy who likes swim shorts]
What’s one article of clothing you can’t live without? Four years ago I bought a white see through loose fitting pullover that is a crossover between a henley and a sweatshirt. Since then it’s my go to shirt once it starts to cool down at night in the summer. It’s got holes everywhere at this point but I’ll never get rid of it.
You’re redecorating your home. What room are you most excited to furnish? The kitchen. The common place for people to hang out has shifted from the living room to the kitchen. I love hosting dinner parties and cocktail parties—the kitchen is vital to both. [We put together a full dinner party menu so you don’t have to, check it out!]
What beauty or grooming product can you not live without? Kiehl’s Facial Fuel [Learn more about his product of choice here]
What’s your signature scent? Odin 10 Roam [Find out which notes are in this cologne]
Do you follow a particular diet regimen? I have green juice for breakfast, whatever they serve at the office for lunch, and try to cook my own dinner during the week. Once the weekend arrives it’s time for great meals—I don’t count calories. [Jumpstart your morning with this healthy and easy green juice]
Name a favorite music artist: Don’t have one, if I did I’m sure I’d change my mind in a week anyways!
What album or mix is on repeat? I create a new mix for every season. I pull songs from random spin instructor’s classes, some play lists I like on Spotify, and Shazam songs while I’m out at night. I play that list on repeat for the season then start a new one come the next. [Listen to one of Collin’s famous mixes here]
Describe the best party you’ve ever been to and why: I went to a club in Nice during the summer of 2009 with 13 friends and Swedish House Mafia were spinning before they got huge. The club was insane with theatrical dancers falling from the roof wrapped in ribbons. We danced until the sun came up and I’ll never forget it…Ask me this question at 2 AM any Saturday night and I’m sure I’ll be having the best time of my life and say it’s that one! [Swedish House Mafia might no longer exist but dance clubs in Nice definitely still do!]
You get to the bar, you immediately order: Vodka diet Coke.
What’s your dream job? Running a tech startup
What was your first job and what do you think it taught you? I was the first employee at a startup out in San Fransisco. I watched the company grow from 0 to 80+ employees before making the move back to New York City. I learned a lot about the Venture Capital world, building a company, and the “social media space.” Back then brands were just starting to be allowed to have pages on Facebook and we were trying to run sweepstakes to get as many likes as possible. It’s been really interesting to see the way the social space has evolved over the years and how brands approach to interacting with customers has changed along with it. The good news is that it won’t stop changing anytime soon, we’ll certainly never get bored.
If you could teach anything to someone, what would it be? More bees with honey or more properly “You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.” For some reason as we get older people think it’s funny and cool to be mean. It’s actually much harder to see past people’s insecurities (including your own) and be nice to people. People might not always appreciate this at first, but over time if you treat people kindly, good things will happen and you will feel much better about the way you interact with others. [Beautifully said!]
Do you support any non-profits or charities? Yes, I raise money to support the Aids Life Cycle and ride a bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles over a seven day trip during the summer. Doesn’t sound like much fun to sit on a bike all day every day but it’s an unbelievably rewarding experience and you get to meet some amazing people. Hey Marys 😉 [Want to participate in the bike ride this summer? Learn more here]
What are you favorite social media accounts to follow on any platform? I’m more of a Facebook guy than Instagram or Twitter. So I’d have to say I really enjoy following my friends that have moved away to other cities. While I work in the industry and help brands come up with effective ways of communicating with customers online, I use social media as a great way of keeping up with friends that are difficult to see or keep in contact with.
Relationship Status? Single
Any dating deal breakers? Smoking
What’s the best time of day to have sex: Morning before work!
