    Casa Malca

Casa Malca is a new design hotel located in Tulum, Mexico. Once the mansion of Pablo Escobar—yes, that Pablo Escobar—this luxury beachside hotel is now open to the public. Renowned New York art collector and gallery owner, Lio Malca, purchased Casa Malca in 2012 and proceeded to fit it with his valuable art pieces. Each of the 42 rooms comes with ensuite bathrooms and some offer terraces as part of the modern, regal decor with rustic touches. To cool off, go for a dip in one of the hotel’s two swimming pools, and then dine on traditional Mexican dishes or international modern cuisine in the Philosophy restaurant.

The hotel is situated in Tulum, a coveted destination on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, just an hour and a half from Cancun airport. Expect sunshine and warm breezes, endless coastlines with white sand, and lovely photo ops. You can swim or snorkel around stunning limestones and enjoy boat tours throughout the area. Combine your trip to Tulum with a visit to the Mayan ruins, or just soak up some sun and surf.

Rates start at $515, but for a real taste of luxury, stay in the master suite for $840 a night.

Book your stay online. Follow the hotel on Instagram.
