Love chocolate? You’ll love this hotel
Your vacation is coming up soon. Where are you going? For a future vacation? I am exploring some of the Caribbean Islands, and St. Lucia would be up next. – Kimberly Fisher
Boucan by Hotel Chocolat is an upscale resort on St. Lucia, a picturesque island nation in the Caribbean. This tropical hideaway is small and intimate, and it’s nestled among vast tracts of cocoa groves (hence the name!), surrounding the hotel with an abundance of lush greenery. Only an hour and 30 minutes away from George F.L. Charles Airport, Hotel Chocolat’s location in the rain forest is a surprising change from most beach-oriented Caribbean resorts, but it’s certainly a welcome one. The Edmund Forest Reserve and Quilesse Forest Reserve are both nearby, so it’s easy to travel to the heart of the rainforest. The hotel is built on the site of Rabot Estate, the oldest plantation in St. Lucia, and they still have an appreciation for cocoa beans. Spend the day peering through the treetops from the comfort of a poolside reclining chair, and then be sure to stop by the spa for a rejuvenating cocoa-based treatment. Try out a cocoa facial, wrap or scrub to feel rejuvenated in no time. The Boucan Restaurant serves an array of chocolate-inspired cocktails and dishes, and most are surprisingly healthy. Try the cacao beer jerked pork tenderloin, the cacao-cumin spiced aubergine or the cacao pod hamburger for a taste of the locally sourced cocoa beans, and then order a drink lined with tangy cacao pulp to complete the experience. Afterward, rest up in the hotel’s luxurious accommodations. Just choose between staying in a lodge or a luxe lodge. Both are similar, but the luxe lodges are larger and come complete with a private veranda. Lodges go for $430-$700 per night from May-September, $495-$720 per night from October-April and can cost as much as $1000 during the Christmas season. Make a reservation and then visit Hotel Chocolat on Instagram to see why this is the perfect place to go for an out-of-the-ordinary vacation.
