Soak like the ancient Greeks and Romans

What’s your go-to spa? Aire Ancient Baths for the medieval lair vibe. – Jacqueline Spagnola

Behind the white columns that separate the large windows on a building on Franklin Street lies a hidden network of saltwater swimming pools, baths and stream rooms that entice New Yorkers who want to cleanse body and mind. Aire Ancient Baths has four other locations—the Spanish cities of Barcelona, Sevilla, Almeria, Vallromanes—but its Tribeca locale is the most recent, established in a former 19th-century textile factory in 2012. A candle-lit staircase leads visitors from the lobby to a labyrinth of illuminated pools while ambient, calming music plays on the loudspeakers. The Aire experience is intended to pamper: guests can enjoy a thermal bath with aromatherapy oils (from $77) or relax in a toxin-banishing red wine bath in a private thermal tub (from $564). Guests can book a treatment online or head over to Instagram to find out more.
